Quarter-turn, pyramid base
Floating, made
to look weightless.
A quarter-turn floating staircase in dark-stained oak, grounded by a stacked pyramid base — the widening platform steps from our catalogue that fill the gaps between the first treads. Above it, treads cantilever from a steel stringer built into the blockwork wall, open-riser, with a point-fixed frameless glass balustrade. This page follows the commission end-to-end: the shop drawing, the 1:1 Tekla model, the welded steel skeleton on site, oak boxing, and the finished install under a cascade of pendant lights.
Finished install.
3D model.
Snapshots of the 1:1 Tekla model the staircase was fabricated from — the same geometry that drove cutting and welding.
Drawings.
The shop drawing set: front elevation, sections and the welded-column detail, plus the dimensioned sketch it started from.
Production & install.
Steel cantilever arms bolted through the blockwork, the welded skeleton walked and load-tested, then oak boxing over steel before the glass goes in.
On site — walking the welded steel skeleton before boxing.
