The Artistic Half
Ilja Andreevs
Two decades of architectural metalwork and bespoke staircase fabrication in London. Ilja
led the production of curved-stringer and helical staircases for luxury residential and
hospitality interiors across Mayfair and Belgravia — 3D-bent, laser-cut steel and the
cantilevered and floating systems that look impossible until you stand on them. Having
had a hand in nearly every CAworks project in the UK, it is his eye that decides when a
staircase has stopped being a structure and started being a sculpture.
That instinct isn't only formal. Ilja holds a degree in literature, plays piano, and
writes books in his spare time — and he brings the same sense of line, rhythm and
restraint to a stringer that he brings to a sentence. He is the one asking what a piece
should make you feel before he asks how it goes together.
The Engineering Half
Eng. Evgeny Chernikov
An engineer with experience across both industrial and high-end interior projects.
Evgeny works the full decorative-glass range — laminated, bent, mesh-interlayered,
gold-leaf and verre églomisé — and the steel substructures behind it, owning the
integration of glass balustrades with bespoke steelwork and the 3D survey, CAD and CNC
workflow that lets a drawing become a part that fits to the millimetre. He is the one
who makes the artistic ambition buildable, certified and repeatable.
Before CAworks he ran a technology company — COO of Yango Tech, the global,
Dubai-based B2B retail-technology arm of the Yango Group — which is where the appetite
for process, systems and doing things at a verifiable standard comes from. Away from the
workshop he trains Brazilian jiu-jitsu and wrestling, which is roughly how he approaches
a difficult connection detail too.
